Bathroom Renovation Cost in Georgetown: 2026 Price Guide

A full bathroom renovation in Georgetown costs $15,000 to $30,000 in 2026. What you pay depends on whether you own a Delrex-era split, a downtown century home, or a Georgetown South two-storey.

What a Bathroom Renovation Costs in Georgetown in 2026

A full bathroom renovation in Georgetown costs $15,000–$30,000 as of 2026, and most standard projects settle in the $16,000–$24,000 band. That price covers the whole job: demolition, new waterproofing, tile, tub or shower, vanity, toilet, lighting, and finishing, in the existing layout.

Scale up or down from there. A powder room refresh runs $6,000–$12,000. A primary ensuite with a walk-in shower and double vanity typically lands $28,000–$45,000, and luxury versions with freestanding tubs and stone push past $50,000. On a square-foot basis, GTA bathrooms run $250–$450.

Two things to check on every Georgetown quote. First, HST — Ontario's 13% is usually not included, and on a $22,000 project that is nearly $2,900. Second, scope — a $10,000 number and a $20,000 number are usually not describing the same job. One is a cosmetic swap; the other is a gut renovation with new waterproofing. Our Toronto bathroom cost guide shows the full line-item breakdown that applies across the GTA.

Price Tiers: Refresh, Full Renovation, and Luxury Rebuilds

The three tiers we quote in Georgetown:

  • Partial refresh, $8,000–$15,000. Layout stays. New vanity, toilet, lighting, paint, tub refit or acrylic surround. Right for bathrooms renovated properly in the last 15 years.
  • Full renovation, $15,000–$30,000. Down to the studs. New waterproofing membrane, porcelain tile, new tub or shower, all new fixtures. This is the tier most Georgetown families actually need.
  • High-end rebuild, $30,000–$50,000+. Layout changes, curbless or oversized showers, heated floors ($1,500–$3,000), frameless glass ($2,000–$4,000), natural stone.

One project type comes up constantly here: tub-to-shower conversions for homeowners planning to stay put. A basic conversion runs $3,500–$5,500, a mid-range version with custom tile and a glass panel $6,000–$8,500, and a fully tiled walk-in with bench and niche $9,000–$15,000. If you are weighing that decision, our comparison of a curbless walk-in shower versus keeping the tub covers resale and accessibility trade-offs. Full accessible bathroom conversions — wider clearances, grab bars, slip-resistant tile — run $20,000–$40,000.

How Local Housing Stock Changes the Number

Georgetown's neighbourhoods were built in distinct waves, and each wave renovates differently.

Delrex — built in the 1950s by Rex Heslop, the same builder Rexdale is named after — and Moore Park are mid-century bungalow and split-level territory. Finishes from that era through the mid-1980s can contain asbestos in drywall compound and vinyl flooring, so we test before demolition (lab testing runs $300–$800). Some of these homes still carry undersized electrical panels, and a bathroom renovation is a sensible time to sort that out under an ESA permit.

Downtown Georgetown and Acton are century-home streets. Pre-1950 houses can hide knob-and-tube wiring behind plaster and galvanized supply pipe under floors — both worth replacing while walls are open, and both things insurers increasingly ask about.

Georgetown South is a different world: 1990s–2000s two-storeys with no hazmat story. Renovations there are predictable, which shows up in the price — a Georgetown South ensuite rarely produces surprises, while a Delrex bungalow bathroom deserves the top of your contingency range.

Tile, Vanities, and Glass: Where the Budget Actually Goes

Roughly a third of a bathroom budget is labour. The rest is materials, and three choices swing the total more than anything else.

Tile first. Standard porcelain installs at $10–$25 per square foot; natural stone and large-format start around $40. A complete bathroom tiling package typically totals $2,500–$8,000. Pattern matters as much as product — herringbone and mosaic work push tile setters to the top of their $80–$125 per hour range.

Vanities second. A mid-range vanity and countertop runs $1,500–$3,500 installed; custom millwork with a stone top can double that. In smaller Georgetown bathrooms, a wall-hung vanity buys visual space without moving any walls.

Glass third. A framed shower door is a few hundred dollars; frameless glass runs $2,000–$4,000. It is the upgrade guests notice first, and the one most often trimmed when a budget needs saving.

What we tell every client: spend behind the walls first. Waterproofing, a quality shower valve, and proper tile installation determine whether the room lasts 25 years or 8. Faucets and mirrors can be upgraded any weekend.

Permits, Plumbing Changes, and Other Cost Multipliers

In Halton Hills, like-for-like bathroom work — new fixtures in the same locations, new tile, paint — does not need a building permit. Moving or adding plumbing, altering structure, or adding a new bathroom does. The Town publishes an annual Building Services fee schedule, and the minimum permit fee includes plan review and two inspections; rates change yearly, so confirm current numbers with the Building Services counter before you budget. Electrical work is separate everywhere in Ontario: a licensed electrical contractor files an ESA notification, typically $90–$300 and built into their quote.

The cost multipliers that actually move a Georgetown quote:

  • Moving plumbing (toilet, tub drain, shower valve): add $2,000–$6,000
  • Layout changes beyond plumbing: add $2,000–$5,000
  • Hazmat discovered in a pre-1990 home: testing $300–$800, abatement more
  • Structural work for a curbless shower in a home with dropped floor framing: quote required

Plumbers in the GTA bill $110–$200 per hour and electricians $95–$150, which is why keeping the existing layout is the biggest single saving on any bathroom project.

Planning a Realistic Bathroom Budget in Georgetown

Match the tier to the house. A Georgetown South home with a tired but sound ensuite may only need the $8,000–$15,000 refresh. A Delrex bungalow with its original 1950s–60s bathroom needs the full $15,000–$30,000 renovation, and you should carry a 15–20% contingency for what demolition reveals. A downtown century home earns the same caution.

Timing matters less than sequencing. A standard bathroom takes 2–3 weeks of construction; how long a bathroom renovation takes end to end depends mostly on tile and vanity lead times, so order materials before demolition day, not after.

Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers to the questions Ontario homeowners ask most.

A full bathroom renovation in Georgetown costs $15,000–$30,000 as of 2026, with most standard projects at $16,000–$24,000. Powder rooms run $6,000–$12,000, primary ensuites $28,000–$45,000, and luxury rebuilds exceed $50,000. Quotes usually exclude 13% HST, and older Delrex-era or downtown century homes tend to land in the upper half of these ranges.

No permit is needed for like-for-like work: replacing fixtures in the same spots, retiling, or painting. A building permit is required when you move or add plumbing, change structure, or add a new bathroom. Halton Hills' minimum permit fee includes plan review and two inspections; confirm current rates with the Town. Electrical work needs a separate ESA notification, typically $90–$300.

A basic tub-to-walk-in-shower conversion costs $3,500–$5,500 with an acrylic base and standard surround. Mid-range conversions with custom tile, upgraded fixtures, and a glass panel run $6,000–$8,500 — the band most homeowners land in. A fully tiled custom walk-in with frameless glass, bench, and niche runs $9,000–$15,000 or more.

In 1950s–60s Delrex and Moore Park homes, the common finds are asbestos-containing finishes (test before demolition, $300–$800) and undersized electrical. Downtown century homes can hide knob-and-tube wiring and galvanized plumbing behind plaster. These are fixable during a renovation, but they are why we recommend a 15–20% contingency on pre-1990 houses.
